
MASTER JOINERS AWARDS
The New Zealand Joinery Manufacturers Federation celebrate professional excellence through its Annual Master Joiners Awards programme. The awards programme recognises commitment to standards and craftsmanship. The awards program is valued as part of the Master Joiner professional membership journey which accounts for its high participation each year.
Master Joiners encourage the pursuit of excellence through two award programmes, the Registered Master Joiners Awards and the Master Joiner Apprentice Awards. The apprentice awards is open to apprentices across the industry.

Registered Master Joiners Awards Categories

Entries must be constructed primarily of any species of timber and be tagged NZS:4211 timber joinery compliant. Tag serial number used in the project must be stated within the entry. Singular or group project items can be submitted in this category. Projects entered into this category can be entered into any other category. This is not a design award. Judging criteria includes workmanship and skill, complexity and visual appeal and use of materials. Submission of floor plans must be to an acceptable scale showing significant room dimensions and indication adjoining rooms. This is not a design award. Master Joiners Apprentice Awards Categories
The Master Joiners Apprentice awards are open to the industry. Any timber joinery apprentice is welcome to submit a project in the categories below.
Best fitment can be any kitchen, cabinet, bar or bench. Entries must be minimum 80% completed entirely by the apprentice. Judging criteria include level of workmanship, skill, use of materials, complexity of the project and visual appeal. Entry subcategories are under two years or over two years.

The People’s Choice Award is judged by delegates attending the Master Joiner Conference via a secure voting ballot. The winner is announced at the same time as all award winners.
The Gordon Caulfield Memorial Trophy is award to the registered Master Joiner employer of the highest judged contestant in the Over 2 Years category.
Commissioned by the late Mrs Noeline Caulfield, the Gordon Caulfield Memorial Trophy represents Gordon’s outstanding contribution to the joinery industry and his work on Awards Tribunals, The Joinery Industry Training Board and as a two-term President of the Federation.

Registered Master Joiners award category entries are subject to a $25.00 plus GST entry fee per category, payable on invoice at the time of entry.
Apprentice Award entries are free and open to all timber joinery apprentices.
Please note the following change
Award entries are no longer required to be freighted and sent for judging on corflute boards. This new process represents significant savings for members. Please upload the pdf file of the award board and if desired a file with the photos included on the board only.
Following the judging; Master Joiners will arrange the printing of the awards boards for display at the annual conference.
