Design and Technology meets high end craftsmanship.
Precast was 3D Scanned and the team then designed and created a plywood CNC Cut Skelton Frames.
Then using traditional timber techniques such as double diagonal planking to form the 3-Dimensional timber spiral.
This was made up of two layers of pine planking and with a feature top layer of American White Oak.
The solid Oak handrails were machined on a 5 Axis CNC machine, these were then scribed and fitted to the timber spiral and detailed with brass accents.
One of the most technically challenging jobs undertaken by the team, facing challenges at every corner.
The complexity of all elements coming together from Plywood spines, labour intensive timber planking, compound curved solid Oak handrails, natural matte finish clear coating and brass detailing.
Then the biggest challenge of all installing this on site perfectly as it had been built in workshop.
